Indonesia Weather is classified as tropical with profound precipitation dominated by heavy monsoon rains, high humidity levels, hot temperatures, and low winds particularly in the coastal areas. Indonesia weather is also characterized by temperatures that are influenced by altitude rather than by season, cooler weather is experienced at higher elevations. Humidity levels are high and average between 70% and 90%.

Weather in Indonesia is hot but constant. Along the coast temperatures average 28°C with the interior and mountainous regions average 26 °C. Higher elevated mountain areas average 23 °C. There is no difference in daylight hours from season to season; this allows crops to be grown all year round.

Wet weather season in Indonesia is from the months November to March and is a result of air masses coming in from Asia and the Pacific Ocean, averaging rainfall in the lowlands is 70–125. As the elevation increases so does the amount of precipitation in some mountainous areas peaking at an average of 240 in.

This wet season often causes damage and disrupts local travel. Generally speaking western and northern parts of Indonesia receive the majority of rainfall, as monsoon moving clouds traveling north and west are filled with moisture by the time they reach the more distant areas. April to October coincide with Indonesia weather dry season and the best time to visit Indonesia. Monsoons are linked with extreme rainfall variations; Winds are moderate and generally predictable. South and west blowing monsoons from June through September moderate the wind flow, these same monsoons travel from the northwest in December through March.

Local Mariners in Indonesian waters are not in danger from Typhoons or sweeping storms, the major hazard comes from rapid currents in canals such as the Lombok and Sape straits.
